Her first published book,
A Witch is a Witch...All the Time, is available (first edition September 2009). A little witch has fun in the different seasons. The story shows that even though we are different, we all have our own version of fun! The photography and illustrations (all done by Tania) are unique and beautiful. The photos were taken in Alberta, Canada.  Tania sketched the illustrations, then finished them digitally. Book and artwork are © Tania Stenbeck.

Chapter 1
New Friends

“Bam, Bam,” read the librarian, Ms. Perroquet. Jordy jumped, his heart pounding. “The canons echoed back at the pirate’s ship, as it raced toward the limping schooner,” she continued.

She turned the page, all 24 pairs of 8 year old eyes were glued to her and the book. Jordy shifted a little bit to get comfortable. It was only a week into grade 2 and he was still trying to figure out if the stories he heard were true. This was the first time the class had met the librarian, Ms. Perroquet and she was reading a pirate story to them.

“Abandon ship! shouted the schooner captain, Long John Silver’s ship is near!” The librarian paused, she turned the page very slowly. Jordy played with his shoe lace. He was sitting in front of her but he couldn’t look at her. He was a little afraid and curious about Ms. Perroquet. To him, she was old. He thought that she looked about 100 (She was really in her early 50’s).  She wore her glasses half way down her nose and peered at the kids, stopping at Jordy, then she continued reading.

Jordy had briefly seen Ms. Perroquet earlier that week and she seemed to walk a bit odd, like she had a limp. He wondered if the story about her having a carved wooden foot was true. Kids in some of the other grades had told Jordy and the other grade two kids, that she read pirate stories every week to all the classes in the school. There were 10 classes in their elementary school. That was a lot of the pirate stories! There were other rumors about her too.
